Meter readers walked the property daily, writing readings on paper before manually entering them into Excel — an error-prone process with no way to verify accuracy or detect tampering.
Monthly billing was computed by hand. Each cycle took days of manual work and was still prone to calculation mistakes that resulted in resident disputes.
There was no audit trail. If a resident disputed a bill, management had no way to prove the reading was accurate.
Revenue tracking was non-existent. Management had no real-time view of outstanding dues, collection rates, or billing status across 4,000 units.
Resident complaints about billing errors had no formal channel — issues were raised verbally or via WhatsApp groups, and resolution tracking was impossible.
A custom Odoo billing module paired with a mobile app that digitises meter reading at the point of capture and automates the entire billing workflow.
Built a mobile app for meter readers: on-site, the reader photographs the meter. The photo is timestamped, geotagged, and auto-synced to Odoo — eliminating manual data entry entirely.
Odoo receives the reading, calculates consumption against the previous reading, applies the billing rate, and generates the bill automatically — no human involvement required after the photo is taken.
A full audit trail is maintained for every reading, every bill, and every payment. Any dispute can be resolved instantly by pulling up the timestamped meter photo.
Built a Complaint Management System directly in Odoo: residents submit issues through a defined channel, complaints are assigned to the responsible team, and resolution status is tracked through to closure.
Management now has a live dashboard showing collection rates, outstanding dues, and billing status across all 4,000 units in real time.
